When I named my spa, I aimed for something deeply meaningful and personal. Following my mentor's advice, I wrote down words, places, people, and dates that held significance to me. Among them was my grandmother, Eleanor.

The name Eleanor means "light-hearted" and "shining light," qualities that perfectly described my grandma. She single-handedly raised seven children, demonstrating immense hard work and independence. A pillar of her community, she was a strong leader in faith and fluent in French. Like many grandmothers, she loved cooking and baking, often selling her creations at the local farmer's market, where I eagerly assisted her. I treasure countless memories of my grandma and strive to make her proud by continuing her legacy of shining light.

The second part of my spa's name honours my mother, Joyce. In French, "joie" means "joy."

My mom, the eldest among her siblings, met my dad at a hockey game and eventually had my brother, Travis, my sister, Terra, and me. She worked full-time at the local grocery store, where her love for people shone brightly. Whether exchanging recipes, sharing sales updates, or inquiring about customers' weekend plans, she always wore a smile. Kind-hearted, joyful, and incredibly humble, she was a beacon of positivity.

A particular incident epitomizes my mom's character. While watching my brother play hockey in the States, my mom befriended a little Irish couple who adored him. Upon introducing us, the lady asked my mom if she was rich. Without missing a beat, my mom replied, "Yes, I am rich!" She then clarified, "I am rich in health, I am rich in love, and I am rich in family." Her response perfectly encapsulated her humility, kindness, and gratitude.

Many of you may know that I lost my mom a few years ago, which remains the hardest experience of my life. Despite the pain, I strive to honour her memory by sharing her legacy of joy with you all. Through her, I bring you "JOIE" in every aspect of my work, keeping her spirit alive and spreading joy to others
